Don't expect Emma Stone to quit acting for a surfing career anytime soon ... 'cause based on these photos of her lesson in Oahu last week -- she's not very good.

Ok, ok ... we know it's not easy -- and she did manage to stand up while in motion ... so you gotta give her credit for that ... but she's no Kelly Slater.

"The Amazing Spiderman" actress has been in Oahu since last month filming a new Cameron Crowe film starring Bradley Cooper and Danny McBride.
